Workshop on "Strengthening Planning Capacities for Developing and Implementing the National Plan in Egypt"

Within the framework of the cooperation between the National Planning Institute (INP) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) in the implementation of the project "Strengthening the capacity of the Egyptian government to integrate accountability in the national planning processes in Egypt", the last stage of which requires training of the planning process in terms of preparation, implementation and follow-up Implement the national plan and measure its performance in accordance with international best practices. In cooperation with the Committee, the Institute organized a training workshop on enhancing the planning capabilities for the development and implementation of the national plan in Egypt during the period from 17 to 27 August 2019.

Prof. Alaa Zahran, President of the National Planning Institute, said that the workshop is attended by a group of trained experts from the Institute, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics and the Economic Commission for Africa. The workshop will be attended by 36 trainees from various Egyptian ministries such as the Ministry of Planning, Follow-up and Administrative Reform, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Investment and International Cooperation, Ministry of Commerce. Industry, Ministry of Local Development, Ministry of Manpower, Ministry of Education and Technical Education, Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, Ministry of Health and Population, Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, as well as trainees from the Central Agency For Public Mobilization and Statistics, the Central Organization for Administration and Management.

The workshop dealt with the concepts of regional and sectoral planning and planning, building strategic plans, following up their implementation and measuring their performance through the preparation of an integrated work system based on technical evidence according to international best practices to achieve integration between national plans and statistical information so that the system of monitoring performance management can be built electronically through technical assistance from the Committee. . Trainees were trained daily through case studies.

The workshop concluded with the evaluation of projects and study cases, then the winners were announced and honored and the certificates were distributed by the institute and the committee
