Dr. Ashraf El-Araby, President of INP, welcomed IIASA’s delegates and discussed with them various prospects for further cooperation.
The meeting was also attended by Dr. Ashraf Saleh, INP Vice President for Training, Consultancies and Community Services ; Dr. Khaled Attia, INP Vice President for Research and Post- Graduate Studies; Dr. Hala Abu Ali, INP Consultant; Dr. Amani El Rayes, Director of the North Africa Applied Systems Analysis Center (NAASAC); and Dr. Tyseer Abu El-Nasr, a member of NAASAC’s Technical Committee; and Dr. Dalia Ibrahim, Director of INP President’s Technical Office.
The visit featured two public lectures held at INP. The first was moderated by Dr. amany El Rayes, where Dr. Karen Lips addressed the importance of the connection between science and policy in a changing world, while in the second, Dr. Taher Kahil presented a system approach for charting the course to water security and resilience to global change, and this was moderated by Dr. Hala Abu Ali.
Additionally, a separate meeting was held with water and modeling experts from the Egypt Beyond 2025 project and INP’s Economic Governance unit, where participants engaged in further technical discussions on utilizing IIASA’s water modeling tools.
It is worthnoting that NAASAC was established at INP through collaboration between the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, INP, and IIASA.
