The third panel discussion organized by the Institute’s Salon, titled “A View of Contemporary Concepts of Global Supply Chains, Can It Enhance the Capabilities of the Arab Economy?”

Within the activities of the cultural season of the Arab Association for Economic Research for the year 2023

The Institute of National Planning hosted Dr. Khaled Hanafi, Secretary General of the Union of Arab Chambers and former Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, to participate in the third panel discussion organized by the Institute’s salon, entitled “A Look at Contemporary Concepts of Global Supply Chains, Can It Enhance the Capabilities of the Arab Economy?”, In the presence of Dr. Ashraf El-Araby, President of the Institute of National Planning, and Secretary-General of the Association, within the framework of joint cooperation between the two sides.

In this context, Dr. Ashraf El-Araby, President of the Institute, explained that the organization of this salon comes out of the Institute’s keenness to discuss all issues of concern to the citizen and converge with the requirements of sustainable development and the goals of the Institute.

During the seminar, Dr. Khaled Hanafi, Secretary General of the Union of Arab Chambers and former Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, reviewed the most prominent supply chain trends capable of improving logistical operations, contemporary concepts of global supply chains and their relationship to enhancing the flexibility of supply chains, in addition to a set of issues related to supply chains, including modern strategies in Supply chains, which will change the shape of future scientific research in this field, and enhance the vision of the supply chain, in addition to the optimal reuse of service lines, the growing importance of modern smart technologies in the supply chain, and technology-supported sustainability.

During his speech, Hanafi touched on the increasing rates of investment in emerging companies in the field of logistics services by capital owners and companies, reviewing the top 10 trends in global supply chains and the logistics industry that affected companies in 2022, as well as presenting examples of some recently published research in The field of resilience and digitization of supply chains.

The Secretary-General of the Federation of Arab Chambers also stressed the importance of applying modern strategies in the sciences of supply chains represented in the focus and segmentation of customers, and the increasing importance of modern smart technologies in the supply chain, and the extent to which all of this is benefited in enhancing the capabilities of the Arab economy.

At the end of the panel discussion, a number of ideas were put forward on enhancing the flexibility of supply chains in the Arab world and their implications for Arab economies.

It is worth noting that the Arab Association for Economic Research includes a group of Arab economists inside and outside the Arab world, who work in scientific research in various fields of economics and development, and contribute to offering solutions to current and future economic problems at the level of the Arab world.
