Prof. Ashraf El-Araby, President of the Institute of National Planning (INP), welcomed Ms. Chitose Noguchi, the newly appointed UNDP Resident Representative in Egypt, during her first official visit to the INP since assuming office in August 2025, succeeding Mr. Alessandro Fracassetti.
At the outset of the meeting, Prof. El-Araby extended a warm welcome to Ms. Noguchi, wishing her success in her new role, and reaffirming the strength of the long-standing strategic partnership between INP and UNDP, aimed at supporting Egypt’s sustainable development efforts.
The two sides discussed avenues for enhancing cooperation in the coming period, particularly in the fields of development planning, capacity building in foresight studies, monitoring and evaluation, innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as the exchange of expertise to keep pace with global trends.
For her part, Ms. Noguchi expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to work with the INP as a key partner in advancing Egypt’s development priorities. She praised the INP’s pioneering role in national planning and in preparing highly qualified cadres, while emphasizing UNDP’s commitment to continuing its support for Egypt’s efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and to build on the successes achieved through past collaboration.
It is worth noting that UNDP is one of INP’s main international partners, with a long history of joint projects and programs dedicated to supporting Egypt’s comprehensive development journey.
